AUTHOR’S NOTE: Going from being the outcast to the well known girl is pretty cool for Jessie Lou. She used to be the loner in the corner and having no one really being her friend she got to know the old soccer star. As he develops feelings for her, things start to heat up.
Being left out is something most kids never want. Changing your ways, how you look, your friends, is all of this really necessary for being popular? Popularity doesn't mean everything. Author of Deep Down Popular Phoebe Stone has written a life lesson story that explains how a loner in the corner like Jessie Lou, becomes best friends with the old super-star athlete.
Conrad Smith was the best soccer player in the grade until he hurts his leg and cannot play again or keep up with his friends. Being opposite of many people it seemed that Conrad would not like the fact that someone so popular like him wouldn’t need assistance from someone like Jessie. Someone that he has never had a thought about. But because of Jessie Lou he was able to get to school and back. Without her it would be hard for him to walk on an injured foot and carry his school supplies at the same time. She become a extraordinary friend to him and couldn’t have help more than she did.
Everyone belongs with that special person, it shouldn’t matter if you have a lot of friends or not it, because people love you for you, not who they want you to be. Thirty percent of kids from ages ten to fifteen realize that their friendships don’t work out because they were not alike. Yes, most people find other groups of friends like them but, some might feel left out and be like Jessie Lou. However once you find that unique friend they are always a keeper.
Conrad, is Jessie’s keeper. Even though Conrad is back to his old popular self. She is lost without him. I would go crazy if I was Jessie. Not talking to the one you cannot stop thinking about. Without out talking for days randomly Conrad, asked her to their dance. She was shocked along with me. I would have never guessed after finally being so popular again he would have taken her with all of the other girls surrounding him. She finally got her dream fairytale.
After being the outcast at school and getting to know the real Conrad Smith, Jessie's dreams came true. She is finally happy. While learning some pretty important lessons on the way, Phoebe Stone has included many cute parts explaining how two opposites can attract without changing your ways.
I really liked your essay. I like this essay because it describes how people do feel in real life. I have a friend who lives in a different state and she has no friends at school. I feel bad for her because sometimes, people don't realize how other people may feel. But I also like how she does become popular, in a some what way. Becoming popular, isn't a good thing, but having someone know that you exist it good.
