Key to Success

Author’s Note: Most athletes like to skip the practice and go straight to the games. But  what they don’t realize is how important they actually are. Learning the basics is the key to success in anything you do.

Basketball is more than just a sport to our team. We put 100% into everything; games, practice and scrimmages. We are 10 girls, 3 coaches, together we are an unstoppable force as through the years our team has progressed through team development, our coaching staff, and learning the fundamentals of this spectacular game.

On and off the court we are a team. Most importantly, teamwork to means to me that we will work together, learn together and be successful together.  No matter what the situation , we work together. Our success over the three seasons comes from the tremendous amount teamwork. Over the three years we have played on the Pewaukee Basketball Club team we have won 118 games and lost 16.

Our accomplishment would not be a reality without our coaches commitment and knowledge level of this game. They have helped up realize the respect to have for our teammates, ourselves, and them. They have a thorough knowledge of the game and have shown us the fundamentals.  Our skills have improved also through these fundamentals and they have shown us the next levels of the game.

The fundamentals that our coaches have taught us has helped us grow from both as an individual and team standpoint. Ever since the first practice we have worked on how to pass the ball with our thumbs down, dribble with our head up, shoot the ball with our elbow in, stay low or defense,  and pivot, so we don’t travel. All of these things have helped our team be so successful and help us continue to improve on our skills.

In all of the years we played together I would have never guessed that these simple but very important tasks would be the key to our victory.  Knowing that in the beginning it was so difficult, to now we know the basics and are working to keep the knowledge we have and progress our skills with the help of our coaches and everyone supporting us, it is much easier to be where we are today.

3 facts and 1 Fiction

Author’s Note: Everyone in the class wrote down 3 facts about yourself and 1 fiction thing. My statement was " I went two New York." Do you think I went to New york. Comment and Let me know what you think.

New York. New York. The most wonderful place to be. At the age of 7 my family and I went and visited New York City. We saw a the play Wicked, the statue of Liberty, Central Park and Niagara Falls. Going to New york was one of the best trips I have ever been on. There were so many fun things to do. The only downfall was when the night came I started to get scared, there were a lot of people on the streets. I would always run to the front and grab my dad’s hand so I could feel protected. The city lights shined upon us as we walk through the park. The view is is special and unique. Boom! Boom! Colorful lights appeared in the night sky. “Fireworks!” My sister cried. As I bundled up in the blanket, the joy inside began rise. This was a amazing;one of the best feeling in the world. As days passed I gradually got used to all of the loud noise along the streets. Bands playing on every corner, little shops and stores, restaurants, lined up one by one all the way down Time Square. Taxis out of control, stray animals stealing food. It all happens in New York. My favorite memory on the trip was the Statue of Liberty. Riding all the way to the top,  overlooking the beautiful city. At first I was a little nervous going 305 feet and 6 inches stories high. But it was all worth it. The view was spectacular. Leaving The Big Apple was sad, because of all the good memories and fun we had as a family, but coming home was great too......But now the real question is; Did my family and I really go the New York City?

Hero or Villain

Author’s Note: Hero v.s. Villain? Which are you? Our group decided to write about a superhero power we would want to have. Out of the many possibilities I think I choose the best. Hope you enjoy!

Everyone has that time in their life where they run around the room with their red cape on pretending to be Superman. As you are flying through the air; fighting the villains and saving the world with special powers to protect everything and everyone.  Combining all of those super powers into one would make someone quite the superhero.  A crusader, who is a major threat, that no one from the dark side ever wants to meet.  Able to fly at mach speeds, massive strength, the ability to re-size, quickness to escape any villains attack, and more. I want these super powers to protect helpless victims under attack from the evil powers.  My abilities to prevent crimes and keep peace and order, would make me an UNSTOPPABLE force.

Past~Present~Future

 Yesterday is History
Tomorrow is a Mystery
Today is a gift
That's why its called the
Present

Author’s Note: Our Group decided to pick our favorite quote and describe what it means to me. I picked this quote because it  reminds me that no matter what happens your life is still important and just keep living it and good things will happen. Enjoy!

I like this quote because it reminds me of the good and bad times in your life and no matter what happens you can just move on, forget about the past and just worry about the present and future. Things happen in life and sometimes you just have to overlook all the bad and remember the great. I love this quote because it always tells me that I may have the worst day, but tomorrow is a new day. When I first found this quote my basketball team lost in the semifinal game in state last year. We wanted to win so badly and it just didn’t happen. I was really disappointed. I found this quote and thought “this is so true. So I forgot about the loss and remembered that the season is not over, go finish it off the right way. This quote reminded me that even though bad times go on in your life, you just have to shake it off and continue on with your life, because you may think it’s the end....but its not.

The Game Never Ends

I dribble down the court
Basketball is my favorite sport
I shoot
I score
Let’s play some more
The sidelines rout
As I hear a tute
Running down the floor
we score some more
Playing hard core
D-fence is no problem
As we wear our emblem
We will never lose
Until our days are due
